Laundry – Residence Inn San Marcos
Job Profile Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to operate the hotel’s laundry facility and to ensure there is an adequate supply of linen available to meet the demand of the hotel. Operate and monitor washing, drying and machinery including adding chemicals and lint traps. Transport and replenish linens from laundry room to storage and guest rooms. Sort, wash, dry, and fold linen. Store and organize items stored in laundry room, supplies/storage closets and linen rooms. Ensure outstanding guest satisfaction and product quality in accordance Company and Brand standards. Maintain professionalism at all times. Possess technical knowledge and aptitude.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties include the following - Other Duties May Be Assigned:
- Adhere to Company and Brand specific standards.
- Comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws and ordinances as they apply to the property, guests and associates.
- Adhere to safety and emergency procedures and policies (i.e. evacuation, first aid, etc.) to include removing all safety hazards.
- Promote the property through goodwill, courtesy and a positive attitude.
- Professional appearance and grooming must be adhered to at all times. Uniforms must be worn according to Company and Brand standards.
- Assist and schedule linen counts for inventory control.
- Be proficient in housekeeping operations.
- Identify stained or damaged items and determine status for repair, spot treatment, rewash or discard. Maintain accurate logs of items discarded.
- Do not place linen on floor.
- Ensure chemicals, linen and equipment etc. are stored appropriately to prevent tripping, falling, slipping and other preventable accidents.
- Set washers and dryers to appropriate times and temperatures based on fabric and load.
- Ensure necessary chemicals are added to washer in correct quantities.
- Inspect cleanliness of linen removed from dryer prior to placing in clean linen carts.
- Communicate and report any deficiencies and malfunctioning of equipment etc. to management.
- Maintain the organization of the laundry room.
- Clean lint filters and dryers throughout the day.
- Keep laundry area clean and sweep, and mop as necessary.
- Work closely with management to ensure that the communication among all departments is frequent and clear.
- Keep company business including but not limited to, financials, personnel, guest and customer data strictly confidential.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and communication skills required.
- Professional appearance and grooming must be adhered to at all times.
- Uniforms must be worn according to Company and Brand standards.
- Proficient in English. Bi-lingual a plus.
- Ability to attend and complete required Company and Brand training.
- Obtain any locally required certification as needed.
- Adaptable and willing to assist other departments in time of need.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance. Occasionally up to 50 lbs. with assistance
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Stand and walk for an extended period of time. Move up and down stairs, elevators and or service ramps.
- Proficient with operating laundry equipment.

- Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience with general knowledge of cleaning chemicals preferred
- High School Diploma preferred.
